Prof. Jan Dumolyn, HPIMS promoter, is looking for two PhD researchers in medieval studies :
– 1 position (full time, 4 years) within the Concerted Research Action project ‘High Tide – Low Tide. Bruges’ late-medieval harbour system as a maritime cultural landscape ‘ (PI’s: Wim De Clercq, Stephen Louweye and Jan Dumolyn). This interdisciplinary project is funded by the Special Research Fund of Ghent University. It combines archaeological, geological and historical research into the genesis and evolution of Bruges’ commercial landscape and harbour infrastructure.
– 1 position (full time, 4 years) for the FWO Fundamental Research Project ‘Litigation strategies and the law of commerce in later medieval Bruges’ (promoter: Jan Dumolyn, co-promoter: Dave De Ruysscher – Free University Brussels). The PhD student will specifically conduct research into late medieval commercial law in Bruges (urban and comital case law).
